Mt.Morris – Memorial Day Events on 5/28!

The Mt. Morris American Legion Post #143 will host the annual Memorial Day Program on Monday, May 28th, at the Mt. Morris Campus Band Shell. The campus is located at the corner of Wesley Avenue and Main Street, one block south of Route 64.
The Band Shell program begins at 10:00 A.M. The featured speaker will be American Legion Commander Stan Ballard. The event includes the reading of “The Gettysburg Address” and “In Flanders Fields” as well as vocal selections sung by Nellie Winters. The Mt. Morris Fire Protection District Color Guard will present the colors, accompanied by a member of the American Legion.
The program continues at 11:00 A.M. at the American Legion’s Veterans Memorial Fountain, also located on the campus. The names of deceased Mt. Morris veterans will be read and wreaths will be placed in their honor at the Memorial Fountain. The Mt. Morris American Legion firing squad, the benediction, and taps will conclude the service. In case of rain and storms, the event will be held at the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge at 101 Moose Drive beginning at 10:00 A.M.
The public is invited to the sixth annual Memorial Day Potluck at the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge. It will be held from 12:30 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Sandwiches will be provided. Bring a dish to pass. Admission is free. The potluck is co-hosted by the Moose and American Legion.
