New Therapy Gym for Allure Residents
The new therapy gym for Allure of Pinecrest residents was filled with supporters and curious townspeople for the grand opening. And there was plenty of room for everyone.
The 2,000 sq. foot space is the first major remodel since Pinecrest Terrace, the memory care unit, was added to Pinecrest Manor many years ago. The new therapy gym was formerly the east dining room, and then an activity room. It replaces the previous 280 sq. ft. rehabilitation area in the manor and the rehab services room in the Grove Community Center.
“Now we can comfortably offer group therapy, “said Kris Carlson, Director of Rehabilitation, of the new, larger space. Multiple residents can be treated simultaneously for physical, speech, and occupational therapy.
“It’s more functional, more inviting, and more competitive,” added Jenna Schofield, Administrator of Allure Healthcare Services in Mt. Morris. “It’s a more optimal experience.”
The new therapy gym has been renovated from floor to ceiling, featuring relaxing décor and ample sunshine. The former kitchen setting will be used for occupational therapy, and the former rehabilitation room is now a spacious office for staff and therapists. The rehab gym features new state-of-the-art equipment such as recumbent bicycles, a treadmill, and parallel bars for residents of Pinecrest (only). Rehabilitation services are not available to the public.
Allure executives and management staff from the region joined members of the Mt. Morris Village Board and Economic Development Corporation to help Schofield cut the ribbon. At 30 acres, Allure of Pinecrest, 414 S. Wesley Avenue, is the largest skilled nursing and healthcare campus of all the Allure Healthcare facilities. It’s also the largest employer in Mt. Morris.
