Holidays are a big deal in small towns, and Mt. Morris is no exception. Celebrate Christmas on Saturday, December 7, with free activities and events for young and young-at-heart.
9-11 a.m. Have pancakes with Santa at The Center, 9 E. Front St., plus activities for kids and a craft fair for grownups.
10:30 a.m. – noon. Walk across the street to the Mt. Morris Community Library, 105 S. McKendrie Ave., for fun Christmas activities.
2-3:30 p.m. Take a selfie with Santa and stroll through an open house at Allure of Pinecrest, 414 S. Wesley Ave.
4:30-7 p.m. The Mt. Morris Historical Museum in College Hall on the Village campus, 16 S. Wesley Ave., will feature a special exhibit of work by former Mt. Morris resident Heathcote “Hec” Mann. His cartoons are a rare look at life in 1925 Mt. Morris.
5-6:30 p.m. Light up the night at the Mt. Morris Lighted Christmas Parade. The parade is open to decorated vehicles and will begin at the David L. Rahn School, 105 W. Brayton Rd. at 4:45. It will follow the July 4th parade route and end at the Village campus where kids can tell Santa what they want for Christmas. Tree decorating contest winners will be announced and you can keep warm with hot cocoa or cider.
All events and activities are free, although donations will be accepted for the Let Freedom Ring Committee, The Center, and Toys for Tots.
It will be a heckuva Christmas all over Mt. Morris and you’re invited! Visit here for more things to do in and around Mt. Morris.
