Mounder Park
Mounder Park is the newest addition to our system. Built in 2006 with the help of many volunteers and a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the park has a roller hockey facility and a skate park for skateboarding, in-line skating and biking thrills. A playground, shelter, walking paths, benches, and beautiful landscaping are all available for your enjoyment. The park features the bronze Mounder statue, a tribute to the former Mt. Morris High School mascot. The statue was completely funded by donations from individuals who had attended Mt. Morris schools, former teachers, and other friends. The park is located next to the Village Hall at 105 W. Lincoln Street.
Zickuhr Park
Our parks also include quiet areas where you can listen to the birds sing and the wind whisper through the trees as you watch the sunset. Zickuhr Park, located on the western side of our village, is a favorite location for watching sunsets and star gazing. Zickuhr Park is also know as one of the very best places to watch the fourth of July firework displays and celebrate our countries independence.
The Coliseum
The Coliseum is our indoor recreation facility. The gymnasium is the site of basketball, volleyball and other indoor sports in the evenings and on weekends during the winter months. Many other community events are held at the facility. including public meetings, flea markets, sport camps, and festival events. The Coliseum is located on the beautiful Campus Town Square. The historic campus buildings date back to 1839 when the Rock River Seminary was founded.
