Nothing improves your food or mood like sunshine and fresh air.
Mt. Morris has great picnic spots at four parks scattered around town. All have shelters, picnic tables and playground equipment. Most have grills or fireplaces. Or you can get your food ‘to go’ from one of the local pubs or restaurants and find a bench on the picturesque Village Square campus.
There are several stunning state and regional parks within a few miles of Mt. Morris, including the White Pines State Park. You can picnic in a shelter, at a picnic table under a tree, or just lay your blanket along the stream and river bluffs. Then, hike one of the many trails that wind through the woods.
Picnic, play, hike and camp at Lowden State Park on the east side of Oregon, where the statue of Chief Blackhawk overlooks the Rock River. Lowell Park, north of Dixon, was a favorite childhood haunt of former President Ronald Reagan, with picnic spots, playground equipment, hiking trails, and a boat launch.
