The Mt. Morris Police Department is governed by the rules and regulations of the Illinois Police and Fire Commission and the bylaws thereof. The Police Commission conducts testing and maintains a hiring list as well as a promotion list, as needed. Formal testing is advertised in local newspapers, including but not limited to Sauk Valley Newspaper, Dixon Telegraph, Ogle County Life, Mt. Morris Times.

Mission Statement
The Mt. Morris Police Department has four full-time officers and three part-time and a Deputy Clerk. It is the mission of the Village of Mt. Morris Police Department to provide law enforcement with integrity and dedication. To preserve life, property and the individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
To work in partnership with the community as a whole to enhance the quality of life in the Village of Mt. Morris.
To earn the respect of citizens of Mt. Morris and all individuals by maintaining a professional, knowledgeable, and well-trained force which is recognized for its fairness, tolerance and equality in its law enforcement duties.
RESIDENT WELL-BEING CHECKS
The Mt. Morris Police Department offers a program for its residents. The program was initiated to provide daily contact with residents to assure their well being.
Persons who register with this program will call in to the Police Departments non-emergency number daily by a pre-determined time. If a call is not received, a member of the Police Department will attempt to make contact via telephone. If no response is received, an officer will be dispatched to their residence to check on their well-being.

MT. MORRIS POLICE COMMISSION
The Mt. Morris Police Commission is comprised of the three members, who are appointed by the Village President and subject to Village Board approval. The Police Department is governed by the rules and regulations set forth by the Illinois Police and Fire Commission and the bylaws thereof.
