And Sow It Goes

Consider a free garden bed in the Mt. Morris Community Gardens

Want to nurture your inner gardener, but don’t have the yard space? Consider a free garden bed in the Mt. Morris Community Gardens south of the Church of the Brethren, 409 W. Brayton Road. Reserve a free 4-foot by 12-foot bed by contacting Ed Weinberg, 815-734-4250 (land line) or eweinberg48@aol.com.

If you just want to get your hands dirty, enjoy some sunshine, and support the community, you can help maintain the large garden plots reserved for growing produce exclusively for Loaves & Fish Food Pantry. Last year the food pantry handed out 4,000 pounds of produce, nearly all of it from the Mt. Morris Community Gardens.

And if you just want to buy fresh, locally grown produce this summer you’re in luck. The Mt. Morris area is rich with talented gardeners. Shop the vendors at the Mt. Morris Jamboree Friday night concerts, or the Thursday night River’s Edge market in nearby Oregon.
